Out and about

Hello.
Apologies for the day late post - an unstable internet connection meant I had trouble posting!

There are still a few long running events being held this weekend:


**THE FASHION WORLD OF JEAN PAUL GAULTIER - NGV MELBOURNE**
When: Until 8 February 2015
Where: National Gallery of Victoria, St Kilda Rd, Melbourne
What: The first international exhibition of the unconventional and playfully irreverent designs of Jean Paul Gaultier. See NGV website for details.


**AUSTRALIA WIDE FOUR EXHIBITION - WANGARATTA**
When: 3 - 29 January 2015
Where: Bainz Gallery, Wangaratta Library Foyer,
21 Docker St, Wangaratta
What: AUSTRALIA WIDE is a members only, juried exhibition which showcases the talents of our members and demonstrate the scope and variety of art quiltmaking in Australia.


**LOVE DESIRE AND RICHES - WINCHELSEA**
When: Until 28 Feb 2015 - Open Wed to Sun and public holidays: 11am – 4pm
Where: Barwon Park Mansion, 105 Inverleigh Road, Winchelsea
What: The Fashion of Weddings- A collection spanning 200 years of famous and rarely seen wedding gowns from world-leading designers and celebrities. Book thru the National Trust website


**CHRISTMAS AT THE JOHNSTON COLLECTION - EAST MELBOURNE**
When: Until 24 February 2015 (see The Johnston Collection website for tour times and bookings)
Cost: Full $27, concession $25, groups of 8+ $23, after-hours tour $35.
What: Artists and makers from Victoria’s Geelong and Surf Coast region create a spectacular new arrangement for Christmas at the Johnston Collection. 45 artists and craftspeople from the Geelong Artisans Group have been busy putting the final touches to over 180 exquisite new creations which will feature in this year’s T'was the Night Before Christmas tour. Participants include members of Geelong and District Porcelain Painters, Geelong Handweavers and Spinners Guild Inc, Geelong Patchworkers and Quilters’ Guild Inc, Leopold Lacemakers, The Bead Society of Victoria (Geelong branch), The Embroiderers Guild of Victoria (Geelong branch) and The Trolly Dolly Cloth Doll Club Inc, as well as individual artists.

January 2015 Group Meeting

Hello there. 

Today the group met up for our first 2015 meeting.  There was plenty of discussion about the group's upcoming Bi-annual show on 21 - 22 March (save the date!) and it was good to catch up on what everyone has been doing over the Christmas and New Years break.

TPG members are reminded to get in your quilt registration forms for our March exhibition as soon as possible, along with the volunteering forms.  The group's AGM takes place at our next meeting on 21 February and all Committee members are reminded to forward their role reports in time for this meeting.  New nominations and re-nominations for various roles within the group will also need to finalised at this meeting.  Memberships also need to be paid up in full at the February meeting (fees have not increased and an email will be forwarded reminding members).

And last but not least, at our February meeting we will have a guest speaker from Banksia Palliative Care attending which means there will be a morning tea/brunch if everyone can bring a small plate of food.

Out and about

Hello there and happy 2015!  
 
It's been a hot and sticky day here in Melbourne with a cool change currently limping its way across the city to offer some relief along with some rain.

To get us off to a great start to the new quilting year there are a few things on this coming weekend that may be of interest:

**3rd BI-ANNUAL SOUTHERN RIGHT QUILT SHOW - WARRNAMBOOL**
When: Fri 9, Sat 10 and Sun 11 January; 10am - 4pm each day
Where: Brauer College
Hall, Caramut Rd, Warrnambool West

This exhibition showcases the skills and imagination of quilt and textile artists from around Victoria. Demonstrations will be held each Saturday during the exhibition. Enquiries: 03 9262 6250

And something Chrismassy:

**GINGERBREAD VILLAGE AT MELBOURNE TOWN HALL**.
What:  Epicure's Executive Pastry Chef Deniz Karaca, his team and volunteers will spend over 2,000 hours creating the Gingerbread Village. You'll see some recognisable landmarks, including the Melbourne Town Hall, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Luna Park and a zoo, all connected by the Christmas train.  Entry - gold coin donation to Make a Wish foundation.  You can also purchase gingerbread treats.
When:  1 December to 24 December, 10.00am - 6.00pm Monday - Sunday.  Open until 8.30pm from 13 December.
