Banksia Palliative Care

Hello there.

This morning I attended a book launch at Banksia Palliative Care in Heidelberg (the organisation which TPGQG supports).

Banksia Palliative Care are celebrating National Palliative Care week (running from 25 - 31 May) and in conjunction with this, held a book launch of Iris Crook's book titled "The Third Chair - The diary of a daughter coping with the challenges of her mother's terminal illness".

Iris cared for her mother when she was on Banksia's program. An excerpt from the book read at the launch was a very real glimpse into Iris and her family's upturned world and one which many of us would not be aware of.  If you would like to purchase Iris' self published book you can contact her as per the details below.

Furthermore, if you would like to read about the specialist health care and practical support Banksia Palliative Care offer to residents of the Banyule, Whittlesea and Nillumbik municipalities head over to their website listed below.  (

TPGQG has created and donated the following 2 quilts in particular to Banksia Palliative Care and both of which are on show at their Centre in Heidelberg:

On the first 2013 "seasons" quilt, patients names are written on the leaves and added to the trees and on the second "stepping stones" quilt, patients names are written on the stones and added to the quilt.

Until the next post, have a good week and thanks for reading.
