One project that is very dear to TPG's heart is the Tree Project. By way of background, after the devastating 7 February 2009 Victorian bushfires the Australian Blacksmiths Association (Victoria) set out to create a forged gumtree which would be a memorial to the people who lost their lives in the bushfires, to honour the tireless people who defended others and to stand as a symbol of regeneration for the community.TPG quilt group has sponsored a leaf to be added to the tree.
Unfortunately, the factory open day was a couple of weeks ago but you can read all about the project and keep up to date with its progress here: https://www.facebook.com/BlacksmithTreeProject. It is an incredibly worthy cause and will be amazing once the tree is complete and in place.
Do you have a group of keen sewers that would like to escape to the Victorian bush for a weekend and just sew for the whole time??? Sounds idyllic doesn't it! Well if you are, new retreat accommodation, the Shearing Shed Retreat, has just opened up in Seymour about 100kms north of Melbourne. Here is the flyer for it:
